Terms of service

1. Who we are

Clintech Academy is an online learning marketplace operated by Clintech Academy, based in Douala, Littoral Region, Cameroon. We host courses created by independent instructors and sell access to them. We are not the author of most course material and do not certify its accuracy.

2. Your account

You need an account to buy or teach a course, and you must be at least 16 to have one. Keep your password to yourself — anything done from your account is treated as done by you, and we cannot restore progress or purchases lost because credentials were shared.

You may close your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why unless doing so would prejudice an investigation.

3. Buying a course

Prices are shown before you pay, in your own currency where we support it and in US dollars otherwise. Checkout confirms the amount you will be charged, and its currency, before you pay; your bank or payment provider may add its own conversion or transaction fees. What you buy is a personal, non-transferable right to view that course for as long as we keep it available, not ownership of the material.

Payments are handled by our payment providers — Stripe for card payments, and Fapshi for mobile money such as MTN MoMo and Orange Money in the countries it serves. Checkout shows the ways you can pay where you are. We never see or store your full card number or mobile money PIN. A purchase is complete when the provider confirms it; until then your access stays pending.

Courses can be updated, and occasionally removed — by the instructor, or by us if they break these terms. If a course you bought is removed for our reasons rather than yours, see the refund policy.

4. What you may and may not do with course material

Watch it, read it, take notes, use what you learn. Do not download, re-record, re-upload, share your login, or resell any part of a course. Course video is served through short-lived private links for that reason. Circumventing those protections is a breach of these terms and, in most jurisdictions, of copyright law.

5. Teaching on Clintech Academy

Instructors apply, and we review each application and each course before publication. Approval is a check that a course is complete and appropriate — not an endorsement of its claims.

5.1 You keep your copyright

Everything you upload stays yours. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, stream, translate the interface around, promote and sell access to it while it is published on the platform, and to keep serving it to students who already bought it if you later unpublish.

5.2 Warranties you give us

That the material is yours or that you have permission to use it, that it does not infringe anyone’s rights, and that it is accurate enough to be taught. You are responsible for the licences of any music, images or footage you include.

5.3 Payment

You keep 70% of the net proceeds of each sale of your course, unless a different share is agreed with you in writing; the share that applies to you is shown on your earnings page. Clintech Academy retains 30% to cover payment processing, hosting, bandwidth, review and support. Net proceeds means the amount received after payment provider fees, taxes and refunds. Earnings are paid out on request once they exceed the minimum shown in your earnings page.

5.4 Training AI on your course

We do not use your course material to train AI models, and we do not sell it as a dataset, unless you separately and explicitly opt in. That choice is made per course, is reversible for future use, and where a course is licensed this way you receive a share of the proceeds on the terms shown at the point you opt in.

Automatic transcription and AI study tools are a different thing: those process your course only to serve your own students, produce no training data, and are covered by the licence in 5.1.

6. AI features

Buddy, the tutor on Clintech Academy, is an AI, not a person. It and the other AI study tools answer questions about the course you are studying. They can be wrong. Treat them as a study aid, not as an authority, and never as professional, medical, legal or financial advice. AI features may be limited, metered, or switched off entirely at our discretion, and some are only available with paid AI credits.

You can also add your own material to a class — notes, documents, links — for Buddy to teach you from. Add only what you have the right to use. It stays private to you, and we remove material that infringes someone’s rights when we are told about it.

7. Certificates

A certificate records that you completed a course on this platform. Requirements are shown on each course before you enrol and are enforced automatically. A certificate is not an accredited qualification and we make no claim that any institution or employer will recognise it. We may revoke one obtained through cheating or a payment that was later reversed.

8. Conduct

Do not use Clintech Academy to:

• post material that is illegal, hateful, or sexually explicit;
• harass instructors, students or staff;
• impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your qualifications;
• scrape, probe or overload the service, or bypass its access controls;
• upload malware, or anything that infringes someone else’s rights.

9. Copyright complaints

If material on Clintech Academy infringes your copyright, write to legal@clintech.academy identifying the work, the material you say infringes it, and your right to act. We remove or disable material that is clearly infringing while we investigate, and tell the person who uploaded it why.

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake, reply with your reasons. We restore it unless the person who complained shows they have started legal action. Repeat infringers lose their account.

10. Availability

We work to keep the platform available but do not promise it will be uninterrupted. We may change or discontinue features. Where a change materially reduces what you paid for, the refund policy applies.

11. Liability

Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that: the platform is provided as it is; we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data; and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

We are not responsible for what instructors teach, or for decisions you make based on a course.

12. Ending this agreement

You may stop using Clintech Academy at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will refund any unused paid access where the breach was not deliberate. Sections 4, 5.1, 5.2, 11 and 13 survive the end of this agreement.

13. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Cameroon, and the courts of Cameroon have jurisdiction. If you use the platform as a consumer, this does not take away any protection the mandatory law of the country you live in gives you, or your right to bring a claim there. Please write to legal@clintech.academy first — nearly everything is resolved that way faster than through a court.

14. Changes to these terms

We will post any change here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Clintech Academy after that means you accept the new terms.
